Job Description About This Role
The Capital Project Controls Specialist is responsible for executing or assisting with activities performed by the Capital Project Controls function. The function is responsible for developing and maintaining a strategic program for all relevant capital project controls and reporting components.
The specialist will perform as a Business Process Owner to support defining and implementing global project control standards and guidance, continually benchmarking against industry-leading best practices. They will lead key project control improvement initiatives and SOPs to support business objectives that ultimately benefit patients worldwide. This includes activities associated with front-end planning, estimating, cost, resource and schedule monitoring and reporting on a global capital portfolios and individual projects.
The specialist will also be responsible for taking the lead admin role in providing support for the EcoSys program. They will be responsible for managing the EcoSys PPM system and supporting the organization's project and portfolio management initiatives.
This is a hybrid role that is based in Research Triangle Park, NC.
What You’ll Do
Support the Head of Project Controls with the development of Project Controls and related Project Management processes.Develop process recording, documentation, and monitoring an effective system of portfolio / project controls procedures (scoping, cost, resource and schedule) for use internally, as well as, with external partners, vendors and contractors. Manage the development of change management initiatives and training materials, establish appropriate virtual and face to face course work for the portfolio and project management staff, and conduct sessions to ensure the organization has appropriate competencies. Ensure process improvement methodologies, project management and delivery process, and implementation management processes are followed. Analyzing and monitoring implemented changes to business processes and adjusting as needed. Being the primary global point of contact for all EcoSys users, both site and global. Work with business partners to ensure EcoSys is aligned with business needs and remains in compliance with GES/GEP requirements. Support Capital Management functions as need for system access requirements, troubleshooting, training, etc. Create and maintain training materials and conduct training to broader organization on Biogen PPM / EcoSys system use. Assist with developing and monitoring executive level dashboard and associated project or portfolio reports and metrics or KPIs.Support the team with creating project related templates such as estimating, schedule, cost, progress, resourcing, and any additional reports as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or relevant sector and at least 5 years in Project Controls and/or Project Management in a capital project organization or technology related industry. Equivalent experience equals a Master’s and at least 3 years of related experience.Knowledge, including appropriate certifications, in industry organizations and standards (PMI, PDRI, …) Demonstrated expertise in project scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and project performance analysis. Proficiency in software (e.g., Primavera, Power BI, Tableau, Smartsheet) and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience using an enterprise level project and portfolio management tool to execute project control activities, preferably EcoSys Practical experience in Smartsheet, Power BI and Tableau interfaces or other data analytics, data management and data presentation tools Strong technical skills, including experience with system configuration, data management, and report development. You are an experienced project controls professional with strong organizational skills. You have experience working with multiple stakeholders and able to provide valuable data-driven inputs into decision-making for Biogen's long-term capital investment and recapitalization plans. You have consistently demonstrated proficiency in project control methodologies and concepts and are able to juggle several priorities at one time. You have a passion for project controls and enjoy the challenges of raising the project controls standards for a growing capital project organization.
