Position Description:
The Campus Manager provides leadership and guidance to a diverse team of employees, external contractors, staff, and students to provide customer focused, high quality, cost-effective facility services for physical campus services at the St. James Campus. The Campus Manager oversees a transformation to reshape and enhance the Facilities Services portfolio - achieving continuous operational efficiency improvement through service and technological innovation, promoting high health and safety and customer service standards, guiding business process improvements, and driving the modernization of facilities services in concert with project management practices.
Key responsibilities:
Encourages, develops, and supports a team-based approach to deliver first-rate facilities operations and technical services to the GBC community.
Leads and manages a diverse team of employees, external contractors, staff, and students in support of campus sites, buildings, facilities, infrastructure, systems, and a broad range of college services.
Creates programs, plans, and develops strategies to overcome obstacles and challenges, supporting operational activities across multiple campus locations.
Develops, directs, and maintains a preventative maintenance program that services all assets to extend life expectancies and protect capital investments.
Critical thinking to ensure facilities are operating at optimal capacity that provides a healthy environment for all occupants.
Oversees health and safety policies and practices at the campus for facility related activities.
Responsible for daily operations to ensure the physical environment is supporting the academic curriculum and communicating with academic leadership for custodial services, emergency repairs, scheduled repairs, and equipment upgrades.
Leads minor capital/operational refurbishment projects of existing facilities and systems in response to changing College needs, ongoing customer requirements and requests for enhanced services.
Manages the Facilities Services operational budget as it relates to equipment upkeep and servicing.
Leads staff development and training initiatives.
Other related duties as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
Minimum four-year degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.
IFMA designation for Facilities Management (Don't have this designation but willing to enroll).
Minimum nine (9) years' experience in a progressively facilities management position with contract management, environmental services, and customer service with some project management skill in a complex multi-site organization.
Prior experience participating in regular facilities operations in an educational sector organization.
Previous experience with the college's internal accounting systems (FAST) in the web requisitioning process.
Expert knowledge of facilities planning and management operations, sustainability, and project management
Familiar with Microsoft office software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
Proficient in the use of internal applications like Banner, FAST, Cornerstone and third-party applications like CAMMS, SLAM, Hippo, etc.
Skills and Attributes:
Adaptability to new technology.
Comfortable solving problems with an increased level of ambiguity.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally with clients, vendors and other third parties.
Able to travel between campus and external service provide locations.
Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills.
Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.
