Boeing Global Services (BGS) Software EngineeringBattlespace & Simulation Management (BSM)team is looking for a first line Engineering Manager, located in Hazelwood, MO, to be part of a dynamic and cohesive management team in a large Scaled Agile™ development environment. TheBSM team develops the Instructor/Operator stations (IOS), threat environments, and immersive visual systems that comprise of flight/maintenance/aircrew simulators and trainers.BSM support customers all over the world (US and foreign military, Boeing Commercial Aircraft, NASA).
Thisposition will lead a segment of our BSM software portfolio of products focused on developing our portfolio of Visual Systems products targeting a segment of customers and platforms within Government Training Engineering (GTE) including but not limited to F-15EX, T-7A, and MQ-25.
Managers are expected to support the team by promoting functional excellence, ensuring that necessary resources are available, and helping to apply lessons learned. TheBSM team has internal Boeing partners and external customers, and it is essential that the management team work closely with all stakeholders to coordinate the team's activities and priorities.
TheBSM team is a large, diverse software development team, which is supported by multiple managers. The successful candidate will need to work as part of this cohesive leadership team in determining the strategic and tactical direction of theBSM team. Adaptability, the ability to work closely with others, and an open mind are essential attributes of management team members.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Position Responsibilities:
Manages, develops, and motivates employees performing software engineering and technical activitiesEnsures execution of software teams providing oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes that align with the program and contract goals and objectives.Develops and executes to integrated project budgets and schedules while maintaining EVM disciplineManaging multiple inter-related software projectsPrioritizing requirements and needs from multiple customersWorking with other engineering disciplines to produce a high-quality productExecutes within large-scale agile environment for software developmentDevelops and executes to staffing plansReviews team estimates to ensure they cover requirements and review and approve proposals for new contract workDevelops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, and peers.
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree3+ years of experience leading or managing software engineering activities3+ years of software development experienceAgile software development knowledge
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of software development experienceDevSecOps experienceExperience working on either aircraft training systems or a modeling and simulation projectExperience in identifying resource requirements for projects, and managing those resources throughout the project life cycleExperience in real-time, near real-time, or embedded systemsFamiliarity with simulation standards such as Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) and High Level Architecture (HLA)Experience as a CAM (cost account manager) in EVM (earned value management)Experience with mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams of junior and peer engineersExperience working with internal and external customers and suppliers.Any Certifications in (PMP, Six Sigma, Scaled Agile SM/RTE or equivalent)

Summary pay range for Experienced: $132,600.00 - $179,400.00
