Position Overview
This is a senior role in DAI’s Global Security Team, supporting security risk management and duty of care for DAI staff globally. The purpose of the Associate Director, Regional Security is to:
· To have the people of DAI feel and be as secure as is practicable in order to have the work of the company and its clients proceed.
· Apply and champion DAI Global Security principles.
o Keep our people secure.
o Adhere to client commitments.
o Apply local context.
· Work with business unit representatives, advising on and agreeing security solutions for the places and projects where DAI operates.
· Coordinate and communicate with project or country security focal points, managers or directors.
This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
· Understand and apply knowledge of DAI’s different [in some cases client-driven] security requirements: USG, HMG, EU, and others.
· Understand and facilitate solutions to project or country security challenges, ensuring concerns expressed by project- or country-based security personnel are factored in.
· On a country by country, project by project, basis advise on and agree security solutions.
· Develop and maintain a deep understanding of geopolitical, regional, national, local political and operational security factors, applying it to analysis and planning.
· Use information gathering and intelligence methods, to inform analysis and planning.
· Monitor events reporting across the region.
· Actively engage with DAI’s business development teams to ensure bespoke security solutions are an intrinsic part of DAI bids.
· Lead, or in some cases advise on, in-country incident management.
· Ensure business travel advice is given and, where necessary, adhered to
· Provide Crisis and Risk management advice.
· Participate in emergency or crisis response working groups, contributing to business continuity.
· Engage with process owners on the development and dissemination of security policies, procedures, and best practices.
· Participate in the development and delivery of relevant security training, working with process owners and subject matter experts.
· In addition to specific responsibility for a geographic region, on an as required basis, act as the main point of contact for [a] designated DAI Business Unit/s.
· Line manage project security managers and country security managers/directors in the region.
· Assist in the personal development of other members of DAI Global Security, as appropriate.
Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Requirements:
· P8: Minimum 9 years of relevant professional experience and a college degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
· Extensive field experience in security, international development or humanitarian work.
· Well-developed understanding of effective contract administration and supplier management.
· Deep knowledge of DAI’s client security requirements, including USAID, FCDO, EU and other international donors.
· Able to manage projects and tasks effectively within cost, time, and quality parameters.
· Ability to produce concise, relevant, lucid, and effective analysis/reports to support decision-making of senior leaders.
· Ability to achieve negotiated consensus between two or more internal or external parties who may have different interests.
· Thorough understanding of crisis management processes and ability to lead or advise as required.
· Thorough understanding of risk management processes and uses them to inform analysis and planning.
· Familiarity of field office and home office systems and practices for project management.
· Demonstrated ability to serve as a main point of contact for multiple cross-company business units.
· Self-starter with sounds technical skills, good judgment, and a strong financial & operational focus.
· Demonstrated understanding of how well managed field operations contribute to organizational success.
· Ability to juggle multiple projects and shift priorities quickly without compromising quality of work.
· Must be able to travel on operational assignments for DAI projects (minimum two assignments per year).
· Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, create inclusive work environments, and work effectively within a culturally diverse environment.
· Proficient in MS Office applications.
· Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred, but not required:
· Professional fluency in Spanish language
· Advanced degree (PhD, MA or MSc) in International Relations, Risk Management, War Studies, International Security, International Development or similar.

Compensation & Benefits:
For employees working the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,406to $167,743. Salary for part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked. Actual offers will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant education, experience, skills, seniority, performance, and business or organizational needs.
Eligible U.S. based employees, will be able to enroll in medical, dental and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)-retirement plan with a company match. Additionally, employees will be eligible for company-paid annual leave (vacation & holidays), sick leave, parental leave; as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. Detailed information will be provided at the time a formal offer is extended.
