General Summary Description
Asphalt Superintendents oversee the crew responsible for the technical removal and placement of asphalt on all projects. The Asphalt Superintendent is responsible for safety, quality workmanship, equipment care, production, and crew activities.
Duties/Responsibilities
Oversee daily safety practices of the crew, job-site and traveling public
Manage quality placement and best practices of asphalt placement
Responsible for assigned and spare equipment
Completion of daily production goals
Ensure the crew represents the company in a professional and positive manner
Cross-training the crew and identifying the educational needs of others, and train or instruct them of appropriate methods
Submit the required project and other necessary documentation daily, weekly and monthly
Support and engage in organization's continuous improvement efforts
Assists in the implementation of operations software initiatives
Follow and enforce company policies
Subject to on-call, nights, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays
Minimum Requirements, Abilities, and Expectations
Preferred, 10 years’ experience within the road construction industry
Preferred, 5-8 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably as an Asphalt Superintendent or Leadman
Knowledge of road construction methods, materials, and industry requirements
Ability to perform work in high traffic volume areas for extended periods
Ability to demonstrate strong work ethic with integrity and commitment to compliance
Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record
