Job Description
The Analyst prepares and analyzes environmental samples according toscientific methodology in compliance with company Quality Assurance programsand SOP's. Sample analyses include but are not limited to air/bulkasbestos samples. The analyst will validate and review data for accuracy andwill upload laboratory data into the LIMS that ultimately generates requiredreports to clients. Schedules sample workload according to due dates andsample hold times. Analysts will be trained according to current methodologiesusing job specific testing and equipment.
Analyst I responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Login, prepare, and analyze environmental samples for asbestos.
Accurately enters and reports sample descriptions and analytical data usingLIMS.
Performs independent QC analysis for other analysts' work.
Performs analysis of reference materials, proficiency samples. And otherquality control samples as needed.
Maintains client service and provides technical support as needed.
Assists the QA manager in development, implementation and collection of QAprocesses for the different analytical tests.
Performs and completes all analytical testing QA related tasks as needed.
Assists in pursuing, receiving and maintaining necessary laboratoryaccreditations.
Co-ordinates projects according to their rush status and due time for timelydelivery.
Assists co-workers on analytical questions, as necessary.
Follows company policies and procedures and ensures that coworkers are doingthe same.
Manages and disposes analyzed samples as needed.
Trains new asbestos or other analytical testing Analysts as needed.
Performs root cause analysis and determines and implements corrective actionsfor errors and issues as necessary.
Maintains all equipment properly and co-ordinates services of all equipmentused in the laboratory, as needed.
Communicates available capacity to Lab Manager.
Supports departments within the lab (login, asbestos, metals,pollen/spores) when appropriate and as needed
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Supervisor/Manager
Qualifications
Interest in physical and earth sciences
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction orsponsorship
The ideal candidate would possess:
Any laboratory experience involving direct exam analysis experience.
Basic computer and organizational skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation,adaptability and a positive attitude.
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously,keep accurate reports, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
