Seasonal position from 3/14/2024 - 11/1/2024. Job Description: Wheat,corn, alfalfa, triticale, pasture/hay.
Operate self-propelled custom class harvesting machines to till soil,plant, cultivate and harvest a variety of grain, grass and oilseedcrops. Adjust speeds of cutters, blowers and conveyors and height ofcutting head, using hand tools. Change cutting
head as appropriate for crop. Service machinery, trucks and trailers.Make in-field repairs. Service/repairs includes but is not limited to:lubricating grease points; inspecting and maintaining fluid levels, tireair pressures, belt and conveyer chain
tensions, radiator and filter function, and brake performance; removingand replacing tires, wheels, bearings, belts, wear parts, filters, brakeshoes, wheel seals, suspension parts, lights and lenses and chain orchain links. Haul on-farm and over roads.
Drive heavy trucks/trailers to transport crop to elevator, storage, orother location. Haul harvest machines between worksites. Haul andtransfer grain to/between grain store(s). Transfer bulk agriculturalproducts between facilities. Under supervision,
assist with servicing, cleaning and maintenance of farm equipment,trucks, trailers and machinery.
Use power equipment including but not limited to: tractors, planters,mowers, plows, sprayers, cultivators, power shears, chain saws, highlifts, fork lifts, skid loaders. Operate motor bike or all-terrainvehicle in the course of performing duties. Must
operate agricultural equipment safely, with or without direction.
Irrigation: Install/maintain irrigation systems and water lines. Moveand install irrigation pipes and equipment. Wheel lines: start gasolineengines and operate controls to move lines across the field at specifiedintervals. Pivots: push on switch that
activates circle sprayer system. Other duties: remove pipes/wheel linesfrom storage and lay out/place in predetermined pattern in fields;lubricate, adjust, repair and replace parts such as sprinkler heads anddrive chains using hand tools; observe
revolving sprinklers and adjust to ensure proper operation and uniformdistribution of water; disassemble, service and storepipes/mainlines/wheel lines after irrigation season.
Mow, cut, and weed fields. Perform ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling,ground preparation, and other manual tasks. Bending, stooping andkneeling required. Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes,shovels, shears, clippers, loppers, and
saws. Lift, carry, and load/unload products or supplies.
Dig and maintain ditches. Install and remove levee gates. Assist withfarm building/field maintenance and repairs. Build/repair fences.
Work is done in the field for long periods of time. Workers may assistin handling product weighing up to 100 pounds and lifting to a height of4 feet. Workers must work on their feet in bent positions for longperiods of time. Work requires repetitive
movements and extensive walking. Work required in fields when plants arewet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain, snow,moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures.Temperatures in fields during working
hours can range from 10 to over 100 degrees F. Workers may be requiredto work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop fieldoperations. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides,herbicides, fungicides, or related
chemicals may affect a workers ability to perform the job.
Workers must obey all safety rules and basic instructions and be able torecognize, understand and comply with safety, pesticide warning/re-entryand other essential postings. Employer will instruct workers in thesafety and operation of equipment
before use. Workers must operate equipment in a manner that p otectsoperator, visitors, other workers, products, trees, crops and equipment.Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructionsmay result in termination.
