WB Games Boston seeks an experienced software engineer to work on our game server platform supporting both Game of Thrones: Conquest and future titles.
This position can support fully remote work, but as our studio is based on the east-coast, availability in our core hours of 11am-5pm ET is preferred.

What We Do
Based on the award-winning HBO series, Game of Thrones: Conquest™ is a free-to-play strategy game that puts players at the head of their own powerful House, with the ultimate goal of claiming the Iron Throne. Build your great house, raise your army, conquer iconic Seats of Power, and rule the Seven Kingdoms.
Our Game Quality team is responsible for the underlying technology used to build and run our studio's games. Our server-authoritative games are run in the cloud, and in this position you will play a key role in providing the platform that facilitates great developer experience and enables our players to always have a reliable experience in our games.
What Part You'll Play
Design, architect, break down, and implement solutions for platform features and improving developer experience
Work with developers, feature owners, and producers to find solutions and optimizations to their processes and deliver value to the team
Assist in the architecture and implementation of our most complex game systems, those that require the best partnership between delivering on business goals and delivering solutions that are scalable, reliable, and performant.
Help identify and articulate technical challenges and risks along with proposed solutions
Innovate and iterate on processes, systems, standards, game designs, and technology
Participate in an on-call rotation, helping keep our live products available under rare problematic circumstances
Participate in code reviews and ensure the technical designs of systems meet team standards
Mentor other engineers and help them grow their technical skills
What You Bring
7+ years of software development experience in Golang or another object-oriented language
Experience with distributed and cloud based architectures - preferably AWS
Strong knowledge of common data structures and software design practices
A passion for automating solutions to recurrent problems or manual work in the software development lifecycle
An understanding of DevOps and SRE best practices
Clear, concise, and transparent communication skills - both written and verbal
Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and employ a customer focused approach to your work
Ability to break down complex problems and explain them to stakeholders or less experienced engineers
A growth mindset, an attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and take feedback
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Nice to Have
Experience building asynchronous or synchronous multiplayer games
Experience with containerization and deployment technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc)
Experience building or managing continuous integration and deployment pipelines (Jenkins, Drone, etc)
Experience implementing gRPC and RESTful services
Experience working with microservices
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
Experience playing 4X strategy mobile games
Familiarity with the Game of Thrones television series and/or series of books
