  Job Summary

  Are you excited about applying innovative optimization and analysis techniques to problems of national importance? If so, we would love to have you on our team of dedicated and enthusiastic space enterprise analysts. We bring to bear expertise in a wide variety of fields including orbital mechanics, optimization, operations research, and mathematics to tackle tough problems and explore novel ideas, directly impacting the future of the space enterprise. We are searching for engineers, mathematicians, and scientists to join our department of highly skilled technical specialists.

  The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.

  As a part of the Mission Design Section, you will be providing technical capabilities to support our customers in the analysis and design of current and future space system architectures. You will contribute to multiple focus areas of the department, which include constellation and space architecture design, orbital analysis, space enterprise optimization, and conceptual mission design. You will work both independently as well as a part of broader department teams to conduct technical deep dives, trade studies, and assessments to satisfy project objectives and tasks.

  Work Model

  Hybrid: This position will require onsite support in either El Segundo, CA, Chantilly, VA, or Colorado Springs, CO with partial remote work options.

  What You'll Be DoingCollaborate with key partners and government customers by performing modeling, simulation, analysis, and tool development in department focus areas, such as constellation design, spacecraft mission design, orbital analysis, and space enterprise optimizationIndependently apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a range of modeling, simulation, and analysisContribute to technical analysis, trade studies, and assessments in teams with multi-disciplinary technical leaders, Aerospace Program Office personnel, and external customers to define and address customer needsDevelop and present timely and technically accurate briefings and reports that clearly communicate analysis results and provide recommended solutions to technical leads, management, and customersProactively network with department/subdivision staff and conduct independent research to solve problems and assignments given by task leads, with guidance from management or senior technical leaders.Occasional travel to support customer effortsWhat You Need to be Successful

  Minimum Requirements:Master's degree in Aerospace, Astronautical, or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field of science or engineering (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)Experience or coursework in one or more of the following areas: astrodynamics/orbital mechanics; space-based modeling, simulation, and analysis; constellation design and analysisProficiency in one or more of the following computer languages/tools: C, C++, Fortran, Java, Matlab, Python, Simulink0-1 years of industry experienceDemonstrated ability to work well independently and in teamsThe ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US Government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearanceHow You Can Stand Out

  It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:PhD in Aerospace, Astronautical, or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field of science or engineering (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)Proven ability to self-manage multiple tasks independently and as part of a teamExperience in technical writing and technical presentationExperience in modern software development, integration, and testing practicesExperience in advanced mathematical topics such as optimization theory, game theory, statistical estimation, and numerical analysisPrior space-related work experience for a US government agency or contractorCurrent and active Top-Secret Clearance (TS) with SCI accessWe offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

  (Min - Mid - Max)

  $90,000 - $102,000 - $130,000

  Pay Basis: Annual
