Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Systems Safety Engineer to work for a DoD customer based out of Warren, MI. This team is responsible for developing autonomous software for their robotic combat vehicles. This individual will work on influencing design decisions by means of safety goals and requirements for the US Army's autonomous software packages for ground combat vehicles.
* You will actively participate in understanding the needs of the System in which software is integrated and help with functional decomposition.
* You will independently analyze and recommend design features that meet safety criteria in system design to control or eliminate hazards
* You will develop safety documents, as required, to support customer and test/operational range requirements.
* The role includes evaluating the interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements to ensure the most cost-effective program.
Skills and Requirements
* 5 years of experience minimum with a Bachelor's of Science degree, OR 3 years of experience with a Master's degree or higher in science, engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, aeronautics, safety, or closely related technical discipline.
* Able to obtain security clearance, US Citizenship
* Expertise in the application of Safety Critical Standards (MIL-STD-882E and/or DO-178, ISO26262) software development, design development, or similar systems engineering experience.
* Experience analyzing/recommending design features that meet safety criteria for complex safety critical software based systems
* Experience decomposing safety critical systems for software related projects * Robotics and autonomous systems experience e.g ROS
* Model Based Systems Engineering experience.
* Experience with C/C++, Java, object-oriented design, or similar experience.
