Eaton's AER FED Fluid Electrical Distribution division is currently seeking a Sr. Tool and die Manufacturing Engineer.
What you'll do:
Primary Function:
Provide manufacturing technical direction and technical assistance for making new and repair existing Stamping Dies, including process design for manufacturing operations.
The position supports continuous improvement in production while utilizing the framework of the Eaton Business System (EBS) and the Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF) and Tijuana Safety culture initiatives.
Essential Functions:
• Able to offer sufficient Engineering support about maintenance, machining, and creation of dies and fixtures to production:
1) Ability to understand cutting, bending, forming, and marking concepts on stamping dies and be able to interact with Stamping Process and Machining Engineers in technical discussions around these processes.
2) Ability to determine useful life of dies according to cycles, kind of material and structure of stamping dies.
3) Possesses a good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance usage.
4) Familiarity with New tooling Introduction project management systems.
5) Capable to calculate how often is needed a preventive maintenance as well as create a system to manage it.
6) Develops, evaluates, and improve manufacturing methods to provide maintenance (polish, grinding, centering, changing over and adjustment) to stamping dies.
• Manage supplies needed to keep the operation in a timely manner as well as evaluates/Selects tooling and equipment needed.
• Confers with production planner to assure tooling availability to production.
• Develops and analyzed statistical data and process performance to recommend and implement improvements in Tool Room.
• Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate support on processes.
• Develops, implements quality inspection methods about maintenance and spare parts fabrication.
• Able to work with direct personnel input in a daily basis.
• Implement corrective actions where metrics are not meeting expectations.
• Able to create Work Instruction Sheets.

Qualifications:
Basic qualifications:
• 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar position
• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• Knowledge CAD-CAM Mastercam, Solid Works or AutoCAD
• Bilingual English/ Spanish
• Computer skills
• Strong project management skills
• Understanding of problem-solving methods (Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis)
• Knowledge of process auditing techniques to ensure compliance to defined quality requirements
Preferred Specialized Knowledge (not required to be qualified for position):
• Good communication skills
• Detail oriented
• Green belt certified
• Knowledge of industry and customer specific quality registration schemes and certification processes (ISO9001, AS9100)
