Flexible Work Arrangements: HybridThe Senior (Lead) Quantitative Analyst position provides technical and market quantitative analysis support to Risk Management. This will involve understanding PJM transmission system topology, security-constrained, least-cost unit commitment and dispatch and other factors affecting the power market, configuring consistent congestion estimation methodologies and market scenarios using power flow modeling and performing required transmission analysis and preparing deductive summary reports of cause and effect including financial impacts, assessments and conclusions . This position interacts closely with all departments within Risk Management and various departments across PJM's Markets and Operations divisions.
Essential Functions:
Configure, test and maintain security-constrained, least-cost unit commitment and dispatch calculations using electric system power flow models and analysis for PJM.Effectively Prepare, analyze and discuss various assumptions, inputs, fundamental, statistical and analytical data.Prepare reports and presentations to explain and discuss model outputs and conclusions with senior management and collaboration teams.Perform power system market simulations and analyze results .Develop a solid understanding of the business functions and processes and implement solutions based on that understanding.Compile, prepare and analyze various statistical/analytical data, reports statements, studies or projects.Perform quantitative financial impact analysis on market participant portfolios deduced from results of power flow modelPerform market analysis, develop metrics and insights to support market and credit risk assessment.Interact regularly with leadership and cross functional teams to understand strategic planning and operational changes.Perform data mining functions.Technical Skills: Production Cost model Simulation software skills, statistical software skills.
Qualifications & Characteristics:
Required:
BS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or equivalent work experienceAt least 8 years of experience in the industry with experience using power system modelingAt least 5 years of experience in financial engineering in energy industryAt least 5 years of experience with Dayzer power system modeling an advantageAbility to produce high-quality work products with attention to detailExperience in quantitative and qualitative analysisAbility to use mathematical and electrical theoryAbility to troubleshoot and provide technical support
Preferred:
MS degree in Engineering, Finance, Mathematics or PhD., EngineeringAt least 8 years of experience with PJM markets including FTRs, ARRs, Virtual Bids and RPMAt least 8 years of experience with programming in SQL, SAS, C++, Python or AlteryxExperience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functionsExperience using PSS/e (power system analysis program)
