The Training & Development Specialist is responsible for the knowledge and skill development of all employees of the Clinical Review Department at the Manila Operations Center. The incumbent will also provide support to the clients, employees, and the company in the delivery of its key objectives and will be involved in a variety of projects based on the operational and development needs of teams and individuals. He/She will be working closely with the Professional Development Manager in designing and conducting training programs that will boost employees' workplace performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assists in assessing the training/coaching needs on a project by project basis Assists in developing training curriculums and implementing training-related processes Develops professional expertise and applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Develops training materials and facilitates training sessions Analyzes learning and performance trends and develops an action plan to address learning gaps and improve delivery of training Provides additional coaching as needed for employees and responds to any clinical related questions from employees and any client questions or concerns regarding clinical abstraction/coding Remains current on medical coding and billing guidelines and auditing protocols Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and adheres to official coding guidelines Participates in testing and training as required by the Company Participates in the New Hire Orientation for new employees Provides assistance to the Authorized Response Team (ART) as needed Performs data entry of charts (coding and/or abstraction) as required by the business Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field Active Philippine nursing license Coding certification of any of the following, required: CPC, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, CRC, CRN-C, CPMA, CIC, COC Extensive knowledge of medical billing and payment methodologies, including coding guidelines for ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM (demonstrated understanding of CMS HCC Risk Adjustment coding and data validation requirements preferred) Excellent knowledge of medical records Knowledge of multi-specialty physician practices and academic settings Knowledge of different training strategies/methodologies for adult learning Solid written and oral communication skills Ability to assess and implement training and in-service needs to provide consultation and arrange/facilitate training sessions Proficient phone system and computer skills, including MS Office, email, and internet; ability to learn additional applications as necessary
Preferred Qualifications:
At least two years experience as a medical coder (ICD, CPT, E/M, etc.) and HEDIS abstractor with excellent performance Experience in training Experience in project management Excellent training facilitation skills
