　　Job Description

　　The Inflammation Biology group at Gilead Sciences is seeking an accomplished and highly motivated Research Scientist to join our collaborative and interdisciplinary research team. The successful candidate will use in vitro , in vivo , and translational research tools to drive the understanding of disease pathogenesis and development of novel therapies to address unmet medical needs of inflammatory diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus. The candidate must be self-driven, interactive, scientifically rigorous, and eager to test scientific hypotheses from the bench. As a member of cross-functional teams, the candidate will use state-of-the-art technologies and innovative methodologies to pursue diverse research interests and advance medicines into the clinic. S/he will have opportunities for career growth in a fast-paced and resource-rich environment.

　　Key Responsibilities

　　Drive discovery and translational research to identify and advance novel therapeutics for inflammatory disease.

　　Independently design, conduct, and analyze in vitro and in vivo experiments to support target validation and therapeutic hypotheses.

　　Proactively evaluate new technologies, develop new assays, and generate scientific hypotheses to enhance our understanding of disease pathogenesis.

　　Work cross-functionally with colleagues in inflammation biology, protein engineering, chemistry, biomarkers, bioinformatics, and clinical teams.

　　Present research findings and recommendations to project teams and senior staff, prepare research reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts, and contribute the preparation of IND and patent filings.

　　Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

　　Ph.D. in immunology, molecular, cell biology, or related field; with minimum 0 years of industry experience or postdoctoral experience.

　　Strong background in immunology and inflammatory disease pathogenesis. Deep knowledge of inflammatory bowel disease is highly desired.

　　Demonstrated record of research productivity as evidenced by first-author publications in top-tier journals.

　　Track record in target discovery, drug development, and translational research are highly desired.

　　Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills and strong organizational skills are required.

　　The salary range for this position is: $143,225.00 - $185,350.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
