  JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  The Student Leadership and Involvement Office (https://studentaffairs.psu.edu/get-involved) seeks creative, student-centered, competent candidates to join our team as the Program Coordinator for Civic Engagement. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence, community engagement, and the holistic development of students. The primary responsibility of the Program Coordinator is to create opportunities for students and student organizations to participate in civic engagement activities and enhance their ability to be active citizens. Strong program planning, facilitation, and communication skills are required to be successful in this role. In addition, candidates should also have a demonstrated record of collaborating across institutional boundaries and working with students, faculty, staff, and community leaders.

  Typical Work Duties:

  Develop, implement, and assess civic engagement programs in a collaborative and inclusive environment including, but not limited to, voter registration and engagement workshops, lectures, and student leader training. Lead initiatives to collaborate and engage with student organizations with missions connected to civic responsibility. Provide resources and guidance to assist organizations with their programming efforts. Identify opportunities to increase civic engagement efforts at large through relationship building and partnerships with university departments and local agencies.

  Coordinate representatives from interested and active student organizations to advise on voter registration and engagement, programming priorities and assist with engaging students in civic engagement opportunities. Coordinate the PSU Votes Roundtable comprised of students, faculty, and staff.

  Serve as an active contributor to the Student Leadership and Involvement team. Participate in staff meetings and retreats and assist with coordinating and staffing department programs.

  Typically requires a master's degree and 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position may require you to operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check may be required in addition to standard background checks. A willingness and ability to work flexible hours to support night and weekend activities may be required. ​​​

  Management is supportive of flexible work arrangements when aligned with the ability to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

  This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
