Whole Foods Market is currently looking for our next Principal Specialty Operations Process Manager to join our Retail Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to the definition, development, and execution of the Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) for various aspects of Retail, Supply, Delivery, and related operations as they pertain to our Specialty department. You will ensure the stores and store support field offices understand, implement, and adhere to the store support policies and procedures, monitor the local operations by identifying patterns, trends, and areas for improvement, and working with both store, field, and store support stakeholders to ensure local consideration in broader initiatives and programs. To be highly effective in this role, this new team member will communicate, educate, and train store and store support Team Leaders and Team Members in SOP implementation and execution.
This role is preferred location of Austin, TX but open to candidates who fit the position to be remote within 1 hour of a major airport. Travel will include up to 50% of the time, and sometimes more, dependent on project needs.
Some key responsibilities include:
Providing Specialty Retail Operations support enterprise-wide and drive the strategic insight into team decision making. This includes addressing and resolving issues that are brought to you by Team Members at the store level all the way up to store support operational stakeholders.
Communicates, represents, and upholds the WFM core values and business philosophy to Team Members and vendor / supply partners.
Take the lead in the design, creation, and execution of new processes to ensure better labor utilization and enhanced shrink control. Analyzing recurrent and systemic issues by performing root cause analyses to help drive sustainable resolution strategies will be a top priority.
Monitoring the functional activity, processes, and outcomes of current processes, and recommending areas for continuous improvement as well as new processes.
Skills:
To be successful in this position, you will need to understand the core retail functions, including strategy, financial planning, assortment planning, promotional planning, and pricing. Having strong financial and analytical skills will help you keep multiple projects on track financially, creatively, and in accordance with the stakeholder’s deadlines is a big task! This will require an Expert understanding of the standard project management methodologies and requirements. This includes the ability to plan, estimate, organize, and monitor projects. You will also need to oversee and advise on issues that arise and assist with overcoming barriers.
Successfully able to convey and/or consult on issues of moderate to significant complexity, including process and policy updates, giving advice on current or planned implementation processes, and providing guidance by leveraging senior level stakeholders and leaders both internally and externally for knowledge will help you regularly interact with all parties that are stakeholders within your projects, which includes colleagues, team members both at store level and store support, as well as third party representatives.
Be an expert of supplier, distributor, and logistics processes and key performance indicators. Be sure to leverage vendor, supplier, customer, market, and industry understanding to drive Retail Operations-related decisions and recommendations.
Strong understanding of the WFM customer trends, buying behavior, and the evolving competitive landscape.
Demonstrates exceptional knowledge of the WFM product mix, supply base, and retail operations.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, project management, and workflow management software.
Education & Experience:
BA/BS degree and 6-8 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
