Job Description
Seeking an Operating Engineer who enjoys troubleshooting equipment issues, likes a challenge, and can think outside the box. Must have a current 3rd class certification/license and have at least four (4) years' experience at the 3rd class level operating high pressure steam systems over 15 psi, and operating refrigerant-based chillers with operating capacity of over 100 tons (minimum). This is a working engineer position. You'll be expected to perform preventive maintenance tasks, as well as troubleshoot and repair the systems that we have under our contract. Building tours will also be a core function, requiring walking the equivalent of a few miles a day. Shift is from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday-Friday. Applicant must be able to pass a background check.
We are looking for a team member who is skilled and licensed as an engineer and also enjoys learning new equipment. We take pride in cross training all of our team members on the various types of equipment and building automation systems through on the job training.
The Operating Engineer would be responsible for:
* Operating and maintaining the assigned facility and all related systems/components, including the building automation system.
* Performing tours of areas and/or equipment as directed by management and required under the contract specification.
* Operating Building Energy Management System (EMS) and associated building controls. Operating and maintaining all central plant heating and cooling systems which include steam PRV's (50 psi), centrifugal chillers (3000 tons), cooling towers (4000 tons), hydronic pumps (125 hp), and BAS controls.
* Performing service calls, diagnostic services, and incidental, minor, and major repairs as required.
* Performing preventive maintenance duties in accordance with NVE standards, building protocol, manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices.
* Other duties include, but not limited to optimizing central plant operations, analyzing and interpreting readings on equipment and on the BAS to insure safe and efficient operation of each system, maintaining accurate refrigeration operating records/logs, maintaining motors, machinery, and equipment of the system in top working order.
* The engineer will be responsible for managing those activities of other workers (not stationary engineers) in performing tasks directly related to operating and maintaining these systems.
* Performing other duties as required or directed by management.
Licensing, certifications, and proof of training, to substantiate experience will be required as part of the application process for:
* Licensed Stationary DC 3rd Class License required
* Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal CFC License, desirable
* Factory Training for different boiler/chiller systems, desirable
Candidates must be US Citizens and have the ability to obtain and maintain a public trust (HSPD-12) clearance. Having an existing HSPD-12 clearance is highly desirable.
