Summary:
Delivers patient meal trays, nourishments/snacks, and floor stock supplies to patient care units.
• btains patient food preferences, menu choices, and provides related follow-up.
Delivers patient meal trays (being sure to check appropriate patient identifiers at each meal) and nourishments. Checks meal trays for accuracy against diet order and menu type. Provides competent patient care to the patient populations by obtaining and interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.• btains patient food preferences and menu choices for daily meals. Updates patient information with room changes, food preferences, diet order changes, and related patient information. Assists diet office as needed.Provides assistance to internal and external customers in a courteous and cooperative manner. Communicates necessary information to provide optimal patient care. Acts in a manner reflecting the mission, vision and values of Cook Childrens Medical Center.Checks inventory of floor stock in assigned areas. Completes requisitions for floor stock items to meet established par levels. Assures adequate supplies and inventory for work area and assigned patient care units.Completes quality monitors and maintains related records in areas of responsibility as needed. Checks and records refrigerator and freezer thermometer temperatures. Follows HACCP guidelines related to preparation, storage, and service of food items.
Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent certificate.Demonstrated competence in a health care setting for at least six months preferred. Must obtain competent score on basic nutrition knowledge test.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Effective customer service skills and successful completion of customer service training module.Ability to perform detailed assignments, follow directions, work under pressure, readily adapt to change in routine and work assignments, and relate to patients, families, and inter- and intra-departmental staff.Experience working with computers is preferred.
