Licensed Veterinary Technician
As a Licensed Veterinary Technician your duties will include but are not limited to; assisting the veterinarians in the Practice of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, in-patient and out-patient care, technician examinations, laboratory duties, treatments, drug dosages and dispensing, surgery duties, dentistry, medical record notation and maintenance, housekeeping duties throughout the facility, administrative duties, inventory, OSHA awareness, and compliance, extraordinary customer service and maintaining a practical knowledge of the hospital procedures, services, and policies.
Duties and Responsibilities - A Veterinary Technician takes care of animals that come into the facility and maintains the facility itself. A Veterinary Technician may have the following responsibilities:
Providing general nursing careExamining animals and checking vitals in preparation for the VeterinarianTaking X-rays of animalsAdministering first aid for emergenciesAdministering medication and treatmentsDrawing blood samples for testingMonitoring animals under anesthesia
Job Qualifications:
NY State Veterinary Technician LicenseWorking knowledge of the pharmaceuticals that are prescribed by the VeterinarianHonestyIntegrityCompassion / EmpathySense of humorDesire to be successful at your jobComputer literateMust be able to lift 40# by yourself
The position will require lifting, carrying, and restraining animals, walking or standing for extended periods of time and frequently working in a bent or squatting positions.
Salary range: $18.00 - $25.00/hour, depending on skills and experience.
