Maple Grove headquarters and predominantly metro area projects; very minimal overnight travel - you're usually home at night
We act as GC for major single-season and multi-year projects (e.g., I-94 reconstruction between Maple Grove and Rogers, extending Hwy 610 west of Hwy 169) and participating as a joint venture partner in projects, including the I-494/Hwy 169 Interchange and the Green Line Southwest Light Rail Project.
We have an immediate opening for an Assistant Construction Project Manager to join the Company's operations team. The Assistant Project Manager provides business and construction management support to facilitate the planning and executing of the activities of a designated project or projects to ensure that the project objectives are accomplished within the prescribed schedule and funding parameters. The Assistant Project Manager role works closely with Project and Sr. Project Managers in gathering, calculating, and compiling data for use in bid proposal estimates for one or more discipline areas in order to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to become a Project Manager. This position is located in Maple Grove.
Qualifications
Civil Engineering, Construction Management degree and two or more years of experience.
Generalized knowledge of multiple construction trades and equipment, construction estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing.
Highway and heavy civil construction experience.

Responsibilities
Perform all functions of the estimating and bidding processes including: ordering bidding documents, preparing contract documents for bid submittal, delivering bids to the Owner, and maintaining and updating estimating database (Assist the Project Manager).
Prepare and administer subcontracts. (Assist the Project Manager)
Set up project cost codes and budgets using operations software program. (May assist the Project Manager)
Prepare and update project schedules. (May assist the Project Manager)
Ensure project close out requirements are met and that all monies due are collected in a timely manner. (May assist the Project Manager)
Communicate with project supervisory personnel and representatives from project Owners, Subcontractors, and Vendors to coordinate various phases of construction effectively.
Advise the supervisor and the Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc. Assist in circumventing and resolving such problems when needed.
Calculate various statistical data such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, equipment, etc.
Participate in developing project update and bid package estimate documents.
Maintain files of working documents for a back up to estimating figures.
Assist in the monitoring of conceptual estimates with actual cost data.
Assist the supervisor in planning the work schedule, determining manpower levels, and arranging for the assignment of project personnel
Compose and/or edit letters, memos, reports and procedures as required under the supervision and direction of the Project Manager.
Oversee and/or process day-to-day administrative items (i.e., expense reports, supply requisitions, personnel transaction forms, operating budgets, etc.) per the supervisor’s authorization.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting, record keeping, and documentation. This may include job cost quantities, regulatory reporting requirements, payroll reports (timecards), truck quantities, approval of vendor invoices, safety reports, daily logs, and other documentation.
Provide and/or coordinate surveying activities, including control of and maintenance of surveying equipment.
Ensure employee understanding of and compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including Company Safety Policy.
Manage and implement GPS operations.
Workload may fluctuate seasonally and require extended hours, including weekends, during the busiest periods. Time off must be scheduled with the requirements of the workload in mind.
