Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $67,314. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Role Overview:
The Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator works with the Director and Assistant Director to provide support and supervision to Local Education Agencies in providing services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part B-169.
In this role, you will:
Interpret and administer federal and state education policies.
Implement and maintain procedures and protocols for federal compliance and results indicators pursuant to the (IDEA).
Participate in the results-driven accountability system.
Work with the Assistant Director and Director of Special Education to implement the state education agency’s general supervisory responsibilities.
A Day in the Life:
Establish, implement, and maintain operational procedures and protocols for data collection, analysis, and monitoring.
Engage in activities to ensure Results Driven Accountability (RDA) is implemented, including data collection, analysis, and related monitoring.
Engage in activities necessary to monitor assigned indicators, including monitoring and reviews.
Draft and update the applicable chapters of the State Performance Plan and Annual Performance Report (APR).
Develop, implement, and maintain operational procedures and protocols for data collection, analysis, and monitoring activities specific to the indicators.
Ensure requisite Federal and State reporting requirements and deadlines are met.
Work with LEAs that have findings of noncompliance to determine root causes, develop resources, and create corrective plans.
Conduct on-site monitoring visits.
Represent LEAs’ interests to the state as they relate to early childhood education issues.
Respond to questions from stakeholders related to the provision of special education and related services.
Promote innovation to improve outcomes for students with disabilities including the implementation of evidence-based, high-leverage, and inclusive early childhood practices.
Develop and maintain professional working relationships with state and national education professional organizations.
Develop, implement, and support new resources and tools to support teachers and administrators.
Provide written materials including tools and resources developed to support academic instruction.
Develop guidance on the topics of preschool least restrictive environment (LRE), assessment and outcomes, and transitions.
Actively communicate and collaborate with IDEA Part C partners including participation on the Interagency Coordinating Counsel.

What You'll Need for Success:
Master’s degree in special education or related early childhood field.
Five (5) years of administrative-level experience in early childhood special education.
Expertise with Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel.
Knowledge of internal and external customers; sensitive to customer needs and expectations.

Recognizes and defines problems; thoroughly obtains and analyzes facts; uses resources and techniques to develop sound solutions while foreseeing possible consequences.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
