The Director, Clinical Operations is chiefly accountable for the overall design, development, implementation and effectiveness of systems, structures and clinical integration programs and activities that enhance the professional practice of the divisional healthcare-provider team(s). Primary accountable person for the effective oversight of clinical education, clinical competencies, clinical practice and safety protocols in conjunction with implementation of new standards of care. Develops effective relationships statewide to lead and effectuate change among the key stakeholders and clinical and operations team. Demonstrates capabilities to foster productive working relationships and ability to develop interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
Assures all Express Cares within the Providence Clinical Network are compliant with State and Federal regulatory criteria and professional practice standards of practice. In addition, this position will have primary responsibility for the selection, hiring, development and training of those clinical operations teams of the Division(s).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director ensures ongoing support, assessment and staff development programs to ensure clinical competency that enable staff to meet performance requirements, which are standard, current and reflect community standards across the Divisions.
Collaborates effectively with those leadership teams of Express Care ensuring that programs and processes are in place which promote quality of services provided and effective and efficient patient care.
Interfaces effectively with physicians and providers to assess the clinical needs of the patients and providers pursuant to activities, initiatives of the clinical sites and Divisions.
Consults with providers and works with supervisors to anticipate and meet patient needs.
Continually assesses compliance and makes recommendations regarding current policies, procedures, standards of care, education and safety practices so that they are consistent across the organization. (Promotes excellence in patient care / safety consistent with knowledge of NCQA, OSHA and governing regulatory agencies identified by practice standards, skill validation and proficiency of the staff.)
Assessing compliance with scope of practice compliance, initiating educational opportunities and staff development.
Applies broad knowledge and experience to situations / complex issues for continuous improvement.
Communicates and interacts effectively with supervisors, managers, directors and administration to resolve interdepartmental issues. Identifies problems within the department, analyzes and resolves with appropriate action. Attends various meetings as appropriate and contributes ideas for improving efficiency, productivity, and patient satisfaction.
Develops and implements clinical competency for staff annual evaluation and enhancement of evaluation process.
Responsible for department budget - fiscal responsibility for monitoring and supporting budget demands.
Builds relationships with clinical management teams, and staff / interacts frequently and effectively with staff to gain understanding of needs and foster individual staff development.
Works collaboratively to enhance medical practice initiatives working to collect data, initiate methods for improvement and education for process changes involving clinical staff and providers.
Participates in the design and implementation of population health initiatives which impact physician-provider and clinical teams ensuring thoughtful and effective clinical integration without business interruption.
Provides ongoing clinical leadership to clinical management teams, medical offices managers, operations leadership teams and medical staff of the Divisions.
Establishes regular and frequent communication forums and platforms ensuring effective communication and development of clinical teams. Provides clarity of roles, job expectations and job performance. Coaches, motivates and develops clinical operations teams in day-to-day roles.
Primary Responsible Person for the selection, qualification, training and development of clinical teams of Express Cares (MAs, RNs, FNP, PA).
Develop goals and objectives for both the department and individual employee. Devise methods for employees, individually and as a department, to obtain goals. Facilitates effective communication with department staff relative to Providence objectives and values.
Conducts regularly schedule staff meetings, assuring policy and procedures are adhered to and when necessary, modified to address changing strategic objectives.
Apply the CARE model of leadership to position responsibilities (Coaching Accountability, Relationship; Engagement).
Collaborate regionally and work closely with local leadership teams to maintain high quality, consistent, aligned care in Providence Urgent Care clinics to maintain UC benchmarks, scope of services and specialty specific education.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree
Master's Degree in Public Health or Healthcare Administration (preferred)
6 years of experience as a registered nurse or medical assistant including both areas of ambulatory care and acute care nursing (preferred)
6 years of supervisory/management experience in an ambulatory or acute care
Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request.
Upon hire: LEAN Certification (preferred)
