Responsible for implementation of data center switch infrastructure which enables business strategies in accordance with architectural governance, standards and policies. Primary contributor of switch port turn ups, private VLAN configurations, port channel implementations as well as disabling of switch ports. Facilitates deployment of technical solution by utilizing templates, playbooks and automation during implementation. Infrastructure Engineer II consistently looks for opportunities to improve the reliability and efficiency when implementing and maintaining infrastructure tools and/or services. This engineer embraces the culture that drives innovation and continuous improvement.
The areas of focus for the Data Infrastructure Engineer include implementation of network service requests aligned to the delivery of infrastructure services. As a member of the Network Service Request Fulfillment team, the candidate should possess the ability to work on complex, often expedited requests in a fast paced environment.
This position will interface directly with internal stakeholders and external suppliers/providers, architecture, product engineering, product management, and business management. At times, they may interface with various levels of senior management. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are a must. The candidate must be able to work on their own and successfully in team settings in various sizes and locations. Adherence and use of standards, product sets, templates, systems, and artifacts are important to the success of the individual, the department, and the firm at large.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in data center network switch port configurations ensuring successful implementationNetworking-related disciplines within a design and implementationAct as a consultant on network technologies where they are a subject matter expertManage Service Request Fulfillment queue, including successful completion of requests and maintaining data quality standardsCollaborate and communicate with internal/external stakeholdersFacilitate and represent requests through Enterprise Change Management processesContribute to the technology strategy for end-to-end engineering solutions and provide feedback to the architecture teams
Required Skills:
3-5 years of experience working in Network ServicesExperience with Network TechnologiesSwitches & Routers (Cisco/Arista)Experience in Cisco and Arista hardware/software, routing/switching, protocolsUnderstands network-based technologies and protocolsFirm understanding of IT Service Management processes and project management (i.e., ITIL and Agile)
Desired Skills:
Industry Certification in Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, and Arista ACE or equivalent experienceExperience in Networking-related disciplines within a design, implementation, or operations roleRelevant Industry certifications in Network TechnologiesExperience of working within Financial Services (Insurance, Banking, Investment banking)Experience with other network technologiesWAN, MAN, LAN, Optical, Routing, Switching, Proxy/Threat Prevention, DDI, Load Balancing, and AAASelf-starter/self-directed, organized and detail orientedStrong technical acumen and analytical skillsExcellent client interfacing skillsAbility to manage client escalations and negotiate resolutionStrong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with all levels of managementDemonstrates competency (or capability to be successful) in the ability to translate business requirements into business solutions and successfully position with customersProven ability to manage short and long-term engagements with multiple project tracks and teamsAbility to interact with clients at all levels with capacity to manage and set client expectations
