Reporting to the SVP, Sales & Client Management, the Director, Group Medicare Sales, is an integral member of the leadership team—driving BCBSMA’s purposeful re-entry into the Group Medicare Advantage Market.
The role will have responsibility for Group Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplementary new sales, retention, growth and account management strategies for all market segments, including meeting/exceeding long, medium and short-term objectives. This role is responsible for the BCBSMA’s Group Medicare book of business with balanced focus on protecting existing business, maximizing growth opportunities, and driving earnings. S/he will actively partner with the executive management team to develop strategies that shape BCBSMA’s overall direction in Medicare, achieve the company’s performance goals and deliver an exceptional experience for BCBSMA’s Senior members.

Key Responsibilities:
Develops and implements Group Medicare new sales, retention, growth and account management strategies and business plans including, long, medium and short-term objectives
Actively develops new business through the broker/consultant channels
Partners and consults with senior leaders (e.g. SVP and Chief Actuary; SVP, Underwriting; EVP, Sales, Marketing & Service; SVP of Sales and Account Service, CMO, SVP, Marketing; SVP, Strategy) to set pricing, product and service strategy for book of business
Work closely with the Medicare and Product/Customer Solutions teams to develop and execute optimal Medicare strategies
Influences the corporate sales strategy as a member of the sales leadership team through sales strategic planning, management, growth and positioning to impact overall Senior market share, profitability and brand objectives
Actively works with EMT in support of sales and account relationship strategy to retain and grow our Medicare product suite
Plans, formulates and directs the implementation of policies and programs which will further the Group Medicare business’ short and long-term marketing / sales objectives
Elevates and supports the needs of the sales associates to address client issues and requests
Drives organization adoption and implementation of emerging trends from the market into the organization through formal and informal channels, including member/account tools, programs, products, reporting, engagement, pricing and performance metrics
Forecasts membership and revenues and directs the implementation of sales strategies
Develops and executes account and client education and relationship programming, including the Broker/Consultant Advisory Meetings, Broker Education Series and Customer Advisory Council
Build, maintain and manage relationships with BCBSMA cross-functional leadership
Acquires, analyzes and shares market and competitive intelligence with sales team and BCBSMA senior leaders to capitalize on market trends and developments.
Represents the company with senior and board-level commitment/support to community minded non-profits
Key Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to deliver work and provide positive leadership in fast-paced, matrixed environment
Strong record of operating effectively within a matrixed and tenured sales organization
Relentless desire to learn, explore, and probe; and to creatively source and solve operational problems
Ability to translate Sales strategy into executable, operational and communicable components
Minimum of 10 years of proven Healthcare sales or consulting experience; Group Medicare experience preferred

Salary Range: $146,250.00 - $178,750.00
The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.
This job is also eligible for variable pay.
